Basic Research Grant

The Plumas Foundation supports art research and fosters critical discourse in the Plastic Arts field in Israel. For that purpose, the Foundation initiates activities appropriate to its goals and values and supports existing activities in this field.

The Basic Research grant is awarded with no predetermined schedule but is rather designed to fit the nature of each project.

In 2023-2024, the Foundation awarded the theoretical research grant to the MARCEL Art Projects (NPO), for the creation of the Point of View project.

Point of View is a new infrastructure art project aimed at giving a platform to the voices of artists as agents of knowledge and opinion makers, alongside their natural and familiar activity as agents of change through visual practices.

The heart of the project is a digital repository of texts and statements, opinions and thoughts, feelings and predictions written by professional artists on urgent artistic and public issues. Point of View is a living and dynamic repository of texts that combines the voices of artists from the present and from the past – with the intention of serving as a “town square” in the art scene, encourage conversations, and facilitate an artistic and public discourse. The repository features new texts, while also providing digital access to archival materials and items that were previously unavailable to the public. Point of View is an ongoing project, with a free, updating, digital interface. Once a year, the project holds a free writing workshop for artists and a public pinnacle event. Point of View was conceived and produced as a collaborative project of the Plumes Arts Foundation and the MARCEL Art Projects, which hosts the repository on its website. The project was launched in October 2024.
